DLF Golf and Country Club, Gurgaon,
New Delhi, INDIA, an Arnold Palmer designed
course, measures 7250 yards with a rating of 73.
There are five tee locations with ratings from
73 to 69. The course is designed along the lines
of Parkland. The greens, tees and bunkers are
designed to USGA's specifications.
The greens are planted in "Tidwarf II"
Bermuda. The tee's fairways and roughs are
planted in "Tifway" Bermuda. The tee's are over
sown in Winter with a mixture of "Rye-grasses".
The golf course contains elaborate drainage
network with individual systems in greens, tees
and bunkers and are then connected to the main
system which is then fed back into the lakes.
The 5 lakes cover over nine acres and are all
inter-connected by either underground pipes,
streams, water falls or pumps.
14,000 trees, 80,000 shrubs and 300,000
groundcovers have been planted. The irrigation
system is fully computerized and has an on-site
weather station that gives precise readings and
calculations for the application of irrigation.
The computer controlled Pump Station contains
475h.p. variable speed pumps and over 1600
sprinkler heads. All landscaped areas have their
own individual system. Most trees have a small
bubbler, with the shrubs and groundcovers having
a drip system.
This all adds up to an extremely efficient
means of applying water and for conserving
precious resources like power & water. The turf
maintenance equipment, manufactured in America,
is of mainly Toro brand machines.
The state of the art equipment of over 120
pieces is used to maintain the course as close
as possible to tournament conditions on a daily
basis. This requires a dedicated staff of
machine operators, mechanics, horticulturists,
irrigation technicians and gardeners. |
