Hero Women's Indian Open
2011
Day 3,
Sunday, 11 December 2011
|
|
Four
consecutive birdies from the seventh
hole onwards unleased the adrenalin in
Sweden's HEDWALL, CAROLINE as she swung
her way to win the Hero Women's India
Open by two strokes from Asia's threat
in the form of PHATLUM, PORNANONG - a
two-time winner (2008 and 2009) at this
Club. Hedwall's final round score of
3-under 69 gave her a 54-hole total of
12-under 204.
In contrast it was a bitter-sweet end
for Phatlum who held the lead till the
sixth hole but fell back when Hedwall
picked up strokes.
Credit should also go the Korea's KIM,
DO YEON who was the silent performer in
the final round. She fired a 7-under 65
for a three-round total of 214 to finish
joint 12th, with Malaysia's JOHANI, ANIL
ABU BAKAR, KEATING, STACEY of Australia
and PARKER, FLORENTYNA of Italy.
In third place was Wales's MORGAN, BECKY
fourth place, while South Frica's PACE,
LEE-ANNE and Swedish WESSBERG, LINDA
were tied at fourth place. In joint
sixth place were day one leaders
SRISAWANG, NONTAYA and LINDBERG,
PERNILLA of Sweden. Both finshed with
identical total of 211.
Meanwhile, CHRISTINA, KIM who finished
joint 29th donated 50% of her winning
the the golf foundation in India know as
"The Golf Foundation". |

Day 2,
Saturday, 10 December 2011
|
Swedish
women HEDWALL, CAROLINE birdied the last three
holes to shoot a 4-under 68 to seize the lead
from yesterday's joint leaders LINDBERG,
PERNILLA also of Sweden and Thailand's
SRISAWANG, NONTAYA.
Hedwall now has a two-round total of 135 - a
one-stroke lead over another Swede WESSBERG,
LINDA and Thailand's PHATLUM, PORNANONG, who
is going for a record of three wins - having
won it in 208 and 2009.
With
mum Yvonne carrying her bag, Hedwall said she
is enjoying a good season and gave herself a
Grade A on the greens.
However, it was her country woman Wessberg who
shot the day's lowest score of 6-under 66 to
rise to be tied on second spot.
A short training in Dubai last week and a
recent golf camp in Orlando paid handsome
dividends for Wessberg.
Phatlum is loves the DLF Country Club is out
to go for a win to be a first three-time
winner. |
