C. Muniyappa emerged as the latest Indian to
win on the Asian Tour when he defeated
Korea's Lee Sung in a play-off at the
Hero Honda Indian Open on Sunday 11th
October 2009 at DLF Golf and Country
Club.
Muniyappa, who is playing his rookie season on
the Asian Tour, sank his birdie putt on
the par-five 18th hole to
claim an emphatic victory on home soil
at the US$1.25 million tournament at the
DLF Golf & Country Club.Overnight leader Muniyappa and Lee both ended the tournament on
12-under-par 276 in regulation play
before they headed back to the 18th
hole for the play-off.

| C. Muniyappa overcame drama on the final
hole to maintain his dream run in the US$1.25
million Hero Honda Indian Open at DLF Golf and
Country Club on Saturday 10th October
2009.The rookie Asian Tour professional from
Bangalore shot a third round one-under-par 71
for a one-shot lead over compatriots Digvijay
Singh and Harendra Gupta, Korean Lee Sung and
Australian Marcus Both.Muniyappa, who started the day sharing the lead
with Lee, finished with a three-round
aggregate of 10-under-par 206 but he was made
to sweat before being able to sign his
scorecard. He had been in the greenside bunker in two on
the par-five 18th and when clearing
a wrapper from behind the ball he appeared to
brush the sand with his club head. |

| C. Muniyappa, an unheralded golfer from
Bangalore, upstaged the stars and made it the
finest hour in his career to date when he took
a share of the halfway lead in the US$1.25
million Hero Honda Indian Open on Friday 09
October 2009.The 32-year-old, in his first season on the
Asian Tour, shot a three-under-par 69 to top
the leader board along with Korean Lee Sung,
who shot a 70 at the DLF Golf and Country
Club. The pair lead on nine-under-par 135 by a stroke
from Adam Blyth from Australia and Indian
Digvijay Singh.

| Adam Blyth, eager to win his first
title on the Asian Tour, made a fine start in
the US$1.25 million Hero Honda Indian Open
after firing a first round eight-under-par 64.The highly regarded 27 year old, who finished
third in this event last year, fired eight
birdies during a flawless round at DLF Golf
and Country Club. Korean Lee Sung is in outright second after
firing a 65, while India's C. Muniyappa and
Jason King from Australia both shot 66.Sweden's Daniel Chopra, South African Keith
Horne and Unho Park from Australia all carded
67s.
